At the 2025 ESCRS Congress, we marked a landmark moment, the 30th Anniversary of the Femtosecond Laser. To honour this transformative innovation in ophthalmic surgery, I led the design of an interactive exhibition that celebrated the pioneers behind the technology and showcased its ongoing evolution.
My process began with curating content from key contributors to the Femtosecond Laser’s journey, identifying the pivotal milestones and personalities that shaped its legacy. Collaborating with a local fabrication partner in Copenhagen, I designed an immersive environment that brought the story to life. The exhibition blended physical props, printed narratives, and digital displays to create a multi-sensory experience that captured both the technical and human aspects of the laser’s impact.
The exhibition culminated in a special gathering of the original innovators and thought leaders who pioneered the Femtosecond Laser. From its initial breakthroughs to its current applications in cataract and refractive surgery, the installation served as a powerful reminder of the field’s progress and its future potential.
